my path to teaching...
I was raised in Sonoma and graduated from Sonoma Valley High School in 2001. I attended the University of California at San Diego and spent my junior year studying abroad in Toulouse, France. I graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in International Studies with focuses in Political Science and History. After a year and a half spent as an insurance broker in San Francisco, I attended culinary school and worked as a professional baker for about four years. I spent three months working in Tours, France as a baker during this time. After returning from France and spending some more time as a baker, I decided to return to school to become a teacher. I student taught at SVHS and received my credential from Dominican University of California. Upon completing the credential program, I was fortunate enough to be offered a full time teaching position at SVHS for the 2012-2013 school year.
As I begin my sixth year, I'm looking forward to getting to know my students and trying out new activities in the classroom. I'm eager to see my AVID students again as they embark on their Junior year of high school and build relationships with my U.S. History students as they work their way toward graduation.
I am excited for a great year of successes and inevitable challenges and hope to provide my students with active, engaging and fun course experiences.

Over the past couple of years, I have been lucky enough to visit Mendocino and Carmel (CA), Eugene (OR), Chicago (IL), Paris and the Champagne region of France. My fantastic colleagues in the SVHS History department have also made the last few years incredible. And last, but certainly not least, my toddler keeps me on my toes and makes everyday fun. The slideshow displays photos and some very special trips and events. Feel free to take a look! |
